Adani Dhamra Port distributes sewing machines to rural girls under Adani Skill Development programme “Saksham”

Dhamra: In order to support more and more youths for uplifting their lives and making them self-sufficient, Adani Dhamra Port, as part of its skill development programme ‘Saksham’ has distributed sewing machines and certificate of excellence to eight rural girls of Dosinga panchayat. Under this first of its kind project ‘Saksham’, ten rural girls and women got the opportunity to learn stitching training in the first batch of tailoring unit centre for a period of six months started from Sept 2016 to Feb 2017.
Chief Executive Officer, Adani Dhamra Port Shri Subrat Tripathy handed over the Certificates to the first batch trainees at a special programme organised at Adani Dhamra Port premises. Shri Meeth Mehta, Head Corporate Affairs and other port officials, local villagers including parents, family members of the beneficiaries also present during the programme. Opinion leaders, local villagers appreciate Adani Foundation for this initiative.
Attending this historic moment, CEO Shri Subrat Tripathy said “Dhamra Port has taken many initiatives towards the upliftment of girls and women in the port peripheral area. We will be very happy if the trainees would be able to stitch uniforms for Port officials. The project will ensure empowerment of women in this area and will also increase their earning potentialities as well. We are also planning to introduce more vocation programmes for rural girls and women soon”.
It may be noted here that, Adani Skill Development Centre is now a Training Partner with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to support Skill India Mission of Government of India and provide Skill Development Trainings to 3,00,000 Indian Youth by 2022 in line with National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).
