Report by Bibhuti Patnaik, Keonjhar :  In a daring broad daylight heist, three bike-borne miscreants looted Rs 30 lakh from Dusmanta Patra, a cashier of Beleipada branch of the Baitarani Gramya Bank, at Kasia Bridge, which is under construction on National Highway No-215 under Jhumpura police station limits on Friday noon.

In a complaint with the police, Patra said that the cash was in transit from the Keonjhar branch of Central Bank of India.

One of the miscreants forcibly stopped the Marshal vehicle (OR-09-C-8110) and snatched away the key from the driver at gunpoint while another one snatched away the briefcase from Patra. Both of them hired the bike, which had been kept with its ignition on by rest one of the gang.

The gang was following our vehicle on the NH, said the driver. The vehicle had not been escorted by any security personnel due to shortage of manpower, admitted a senior bank official.
