Bhadrak: Kabaddi has always been seen as a popular pastime in our country, especially in the rural areas. Add to that our domination of the sport at the world stage and it should come as no surprise that the franchisee based league of the sport took the masses by storm last year.Seeing this upward trend of women getting hooked to kabaddi in national level and determined to contribute in the development of kabaddi and nurture new sporting talents, the team from Adani foundation has been organizing camps in school level and conducting talent scouting in rural areas unearth young girl students prospects for the sport.
R.N. High School, Dolasahi ended their campaign in the Adani Inter School Girls Kabaddi Tournament with a thumping 22-19 win over A.S. High School, Achak at the School play ground at DolasahiThursday.The first Girl’s Kabaddi Challenge was witnessed by thousands of students, teachers, fans, young and old. As Chief Guest Adani Foundation Dhamra Port CSR Head Prabhat Kumar Mishra, inaugurated the tournament by lighting up the lamp followed by flag hoisting and March fast by different student groups. Deputy Manager Subhashish Mishra and all members of CSR team, R. N. High School Head Mistress Subhasmita Tripathy and PET teachers of various Schools were present during the session.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest underlined the importance of sports in nation building with special reference to participation of Odia girls like Ditty Chand,Shrabani Nanda, AnuradhaBiswal participation in Olympic. He also expressed his pleasure to see the participating teams from various schools.
The 1st Semi-final match was played between R. N. High School, Dolasahi and Ranital High School of Score 25-14 and made path to Final. 2ndSemi final was between A.S. High School, AchakVrs. Rambhila High School of a close winning of 36-32. In Final Match R. N. High School have a close finish against Achak High School 22 – 19.
During the valedictory function, Manoj Dash, District Sports Officer be presented and awarded to the Runners Up and Winning teams. After the prize distribution ceremony, An eye soothing ketchup dance was performed by girls. The games conducted by expert PETs of several high schools.More than 100 girls were took part in the tournament of eight periphery high schools. RamanujaBidyaPitha-Palia, R. N. High School, Dolasahi, Ranital High School, Bania High school, A. S. High School-Achak, CRS High School-Tihidi, Rambhila High School, Tihidi Govt. Girls High School took part in the tournament.
