Bhubaneswar: Basanth Mohanty and Debasis Mohanty put Orissa on a commanding position, sharing seven wickets between them to reduce Punjab to 144 for eight on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Resuming at overnight score of 232 for seven, Orissa folded at 283 in 99 overs at the Sector 16 Stadium here.
Alok Chandra Sahu (58) completed a well-made half century, laced with seven fours, while for Punjab, Love Ablish, who picked up a five-wicket haul yesterday, scalped one today, and Manpreet Gony accounted for two.
In reply, Punjab were reduced to 77 for five in just 23 overs, courtesy Basant Mohanty, who ripped through the top order, removing Vishwas Bhalla (0), Uday Kaul (8), Taruwar Kohli (20) and Pankaj Dharmani (5).
