Bhubaneswar: Orissa scored 293 runs for the loss of five wickets in the first innings of the elite group-A match of the Ranji trophy held at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Once again the top order including skipper SS Das failed to fire. In the opening session the team scored only 39 runs for the loss of three wickets. Middle order batsman Pravanjan Mallik took some time to settle down and scored unbeaten 73 runs. For the fourth wicket he made a partnership with RK Mohanty of 50 runs. Mohanty scored 42 runs. In fifth wicket, Mallick and H Das contributed 93 runs, Das scored 49 runs.
MP Arjuna of Hyderabad bagged three wickets and his teammate A Absolem and MA Khader grabbed one wicket each.
