Rourkela: Unidentified miscreants killed a ward member of Manko panchayat under old Bisra, police said on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Moca Oram.

According to reports, miscreants attacked Oram when he was returning home from Bisra market at around 9 pm on Friday.

According to family, Oram was killed over date palm juice collection. Moreover, he was against the sale of the locally made alcoholic beverage.

The family has claimed that Oram had picked up a quarrel with some liquor traders of Barsua area over the issue.

The body of Oram was recovered by SOG and police in the morning who have begun investigation into the gruesome murder that has sent shock waves in the region.

Meanwhile, keeping in view the palpable tension following the killing of the ward member adequate police force has been deployed in the area.
