Report by Basant Rath; Nabarangpur: To mark World AIDS Day the district administration organized cycle rally holding banners and placards of AIDS awareness. The ASHAs students, and local youths participated in the rally later a meeting was held at the shastri bhawan, Collector Sibabrata Dash, said that as per the study the migrants labourers were highly vulnerable to HIV transmission.
“HIV-AIDS comes with a lot of social stigma. We must join hands and take a pledge to wipe out the social discrimination towards people living with HIV-AIDS. This, in my view, is the first step towards ensuring their rights and providing them universal access to HIV-AIDS treatment, prevention, care and support,” he said.
Centre for good living, president Julu Mohanty, in association with district administration organized a blood donation camp at town hall.
Several officials including Collector Sibabrata Dash, lecture Subundhu Mohanty, NRHM officials attended the meeting and participated in the cycle rally.
