Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The election for the Zilla Parishad president post was held in District Rural Development Agency [DRDA] office on Tuesday afternoon. Following state chief minister Naveen Patnaik announcement yesterday that BJD candidate Devidatta Mohanty selected for the ZP president post as consequence he only filed his nomination papers for contesting the election but no candidate moved contesting with the BJD nominee at the end of filing nomination no candidate filed papers opposing him as result he declared as ZP president elected unopposed.

The newly elected ZP president Mr Mohanty is first timer ZP member from Jagatsinghpur ZP zone 2, accorded as 4th president of Zilla Parishad. A law graduate and class mate of local legislator Bishnu Das and a business man by profession and earlier he was elected as
councilor to Jagatsinghpur NAC.

ZP members coming to Bhubaneswar on Monday for consultation for choosing ZP president, sources said that the ZP members led by districts three MLAs Bishnu Das, Prasant Muduli and Ravi Bhoi met Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra and chief minister Naveen Patnaik then chief minister declared the name of new ZP president on Monday night.
