Bhubaneswar: Olympian Srabani Nanda was conferred with the 24th Ekalabya Puraskar today evening. Legendary athlete and flying Sikh Milkha Singh presented the 24th Ekalabya puraskar to Sravani presenting her a citation along with a cash prize of about Rs. 5 lakh.
Olympian Milkha Singh also felicitated two promising hockey players of Odisha Deep Grace Ekka and Dipsan Tirkey with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation each.
The award is instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), the charitable wing of the IMFA Group.
Sravani who made history by becoming one of the handful of Odia athlete to compete in 2016 Rio Olympics has other national and international records on her name notably, gold medal in 200m sprint, silver in women, 100m sprint and 4x100m relay in 12th South Asian Games, held at Guwahati during Feb 2016. Likewise, in 2015, Nanda bagged bronze medals in Asian Grand Prix at Thailand on June 2015.
While two other sports persons hockey player Deep Grace Ekka andDipsan Tirkey were also presented citations along with cash prize of 50,000 each.
