Bhubaneswar: Dr. Suresh Chandra Dash, Emeritus Professor in Medicine and Professor & Head of Nephrology Department, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), KIIT University was felicitated by the Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Hon’ble Shri K. P. Sharma Oli on 22nd September 2016 during an International Conference on Kidney Transplantation in Kathmandu. Eminent nephrologists, transplant surgeons from Australia & other countries participated in the Conference, which was organised by Institute of Medical Sciences, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
Prof. S. C. Dash is recognised in Nepal as an icon physician, because of his long association with Nephrology services of that country. He set-up Nephrology Unit and did the first Hemodialysis in Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, in 1987 under Indo-Nepal Friendship Treaty. Subsequently, he was made a visiting professor to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. Nepal Television had earlier honoured him with “Nepal Gourav” award in 2007. He has treated many patients, including Kidney transplant, from Nepal while working at AIIMS, New Delhi. Nepal Nephrology Society has invited him to participate in many Conferences & CMEs in the past.
Dr. Dash, currently the Emeritus Professor in Medicine and Professor & Head of Nephrology Department at KIMS, was earlier Director, KIMS & Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital. He has served at AIIMS, New Delhi for 31 years as Professor and HOD of Nephrology, where he trained innumerable MD, DM, DNB & Ph.D. students. He held several International Congresses and was invited to several hospitals as visiting Professor in UK & presented lectures at many countries like USA, Japan, UK. He was sent by Govt. of India to UK as a Sr. Commonwealth fellow in 1992. Recently, he has been made an Educational Ambassador in Nephrology by International Society of Nephrology to teach in foreign countries.
