Odisha CM recommends Centre to set up proposed Odisha IIM in Sambalpur under relaxed guidelines
Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recommends Union HRD minister Smriti Irani to set up proposed Odisha IIM in Sambalpur under relaxed guidelines. CM Patnaik on this regard write letter to Union HRD minister Smriti Irani.
CM Naveen Patnaik in his letter said that, “Kindly refer to your D.O. No.8-38/2014-75V, dated Nil in which you have asked for the opinion of the State Government for setting up of the Indian Institute of Management, Odisha in Western Odisha, particularly in Sambalpur region. In this connection, I would like to inform you that while recommending the sites for Indian Institute of Management, Odisha, the State Govt. was constrained by the fact that the location should be close to an airport as per guidelines circulated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. This restricted our choice to places in and around Bhubaneswar. However, if the Central Government is willing to relax this guideline for site selection, then the State Government strongly recommends Sambalpur in Western Odisha as the location of the Indian Institute of Management, Odisha. Incidentally, Sambalpur is a Municipal Corporation.”
