Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has given its consent for construction of a new terminal at the Biju Patnaik Airport here, said Debi Prasad Mishra, State Excise and Tourism Minister.
During the National Civil Aviation meet Minister Mishra met Union Civil Aviation Minister Prafulla Patel and vividly discussed about the upgradation of the Airport in the face of increase in the number of air travellers
Union Minister Patel informed Mishra that on consideration of the proposals given by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik the Civil Aviation Ministry was going to take steps on necessary storage space extended parking facility and surrounding town area development.
Besides, Minister Mishra requested Patel to take steps for construction of a full-fledged Airport at Jharsuguda for which the State Government has decided to provide 815 acres of land.
Mishra pointed out that under the able leadership of the Chief Minister there has been a boom for investment of crores of rupees in the State and for this purpose there was a need for improving the air route connections to the State.
That apart, he demanded quick resumption of evening flight of Chennai-Bhubaneswar-Kolkata and Delhi-Ranchi-Bhubaneswar that had been cancelled earlier.
