Odisha Youth Innovation Award to Sidhant Patnaik student of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on gave away the second Odisha Youth Innovation Awards to 20 youths for their ideas and business models. Among the young innovators three got Rs. 11 lakh each for developing prototypes while 17 got Rs. 50,000 cash each for new idea. The award aimed at encouraging innovation among youths who have the potential of becoming entrepreneurs in the future,” said state Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) secretary LN Gupta.
This year as many as 240 ideas were received of which 63 were shortlisted for screening and finally 20 of them were selected for the award . The awarded ideas are ranging from developing an APP for legal assistance to development of electric sockets to various types of plugs./ Prototype of a wall climbing machine developed by Rahul Aanad was an amazing concept. This is for the second time in a row that I and my friend got the Odisha Innovation Award. Last year, we got it for developing low cost drones for various activities. The award no doubt motivated us for more goods words and we are working many innovative projects in agriculture, geography and mining, said Rahul, Similarly Gourab Mohapatra, an MCA has got patent in multi utility socket, while Silpa Mohapatra developed a prototype for economical car by using engine of a bike.
Sidhant Patnaik student of class VIII of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur was one of the awardee for his project “THIRD EYE FOR THE BLIND” for navigation of visually handicapped persons.
A committee will monitor the further development of the ideas and will help them in starting successful business models. ‘We will also provide them all kinds of supports like finance and technical, if required, said managing director of Odisha Small Industries Corporation Limited. IT-enabled helmet with alert for parents, use of algae for fishfed and e-radar system for the blind.
Sidhant is the only son of Subrat Patnaik, Senior Manager at Nilachal Ispat Nigam Ltd. and Sarita Patnaik. He is grandson of Chnadraprava Patnaik and Sanchar editor Prasanta Patnaik.
