Report by OrissaDiary.com bureau; Bhubaneswar: On the second day of 'Alma Fiesta' the Socio-Cultural fest of IIT Bhubaneswar. The socio case study competition 'Perspective' was held and the team from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT),Sarang consisting of Ipsit Bibhudarshi and Barsha Behera won the competition.
The winners were decorated with the prestigious award of 'SNSMT-IIT Bbs Social Change Maker -2012' by the Chief Guest of the event,noted young socio-political leader Shri. Suparno Satpathy. This award is installed by IIT Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT). This award was first installed in year 2009.
"Besides cultural and fun events IIT Bbs in its annual festival gives very strong emphasis to its commitment for the society. We at IIT believe in 'thinking out of the box' and our collaboration with SNSMT for this innovative competition is yet another out of the box idea churned out of IIT" said Shouryadipta Ghosh of IIT Bhubaneswar.
The event was judged by Dr. Priy Nath and Pranab Pattanaik. On the occasion IIT had invited Shri. Suparno Satpathy as the Chief Guest of the event. Shri. Satpathy in his address said " progressive innovation is the only way forward and that its high time the youth of India must shift focus on it" he added " it is time that the youth of india shifts from being good follower to good leader".
The problem statement for this year's competition was Earth Vs. Industrialization. The event was held at the IIT Bhubaneswar auditorium with a full house audience and teams from several institutes had participated. Teams in the finals were from KIIT, IIT, Gandhi Institute of Technology,Dreams University, IGIT, SoA University and IBS.
