Kalua Yatra comes to an end with Kumar Purnima
Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Berhampur: The 15 days long festivity of Silk city during Kalua Yatra at Gosainnuagam comes to an end with mark of Kumar Purnima. As the tradition of yatra Maa Kalua has approached to the village as a married daughter visits her paternal home on the auspicious day of Mahalaya and be to go back into her in-law house, just staying 15 days a t mandap.

These 15 days the whole city adds colour of festivity with Durga puja, Dussera and Vijaya Dasami. On 30th Sept 2016 night a grand procession has marched to welcome Maa Kalua. The Malasree (rhymes) are read to welcome the daughter to her paternal house. With a grand procession Goddess has taken a round in the whole village and be seated on mandap on 1st Oct 2016. That begins festivity with entertainment programmes. The whole village participated unanimously and organised a series of cultural evenings for merriment for the audience in nights.

 The 15 days cultural activities are marked by the participation of famous Ganjam folk formats and stage shows including three opera shows (played by village youths), Bharat Leela, Ghuduki, Prahallad Natak (called Raja Nata), Sakhi Nata, Chaddeya Nata, Veenakar, Danda Nata and Bhajan troupes for a good amusement of city dwellers. The melody nights highlighted the occasion with a good gathering.
The Maa Kalua Puja Committee led by Panchanan Choudhury, president and Santosh Kumar Sahu, secretary has earned a good support of people to add more programmes in this famous festival. A good media campaign and participation is ensured for publicity of yatra. The public relation of yatra committee has touched every corner of the Silk city to invite more and more people to yatra mandap. The evening aarati be the crowded hours of the day long activity with distribution of prasad. 
This year a documentary cinema of Kalua yatra has released screened on mandap. “Aasina Aasichi Aama Gaon ku” the DVD is produced, edited and directed by Sanat Panda, CEO of Samparka Mass Media and Infotainment. On the inauguration day Hrusikesh Panigrahy, ASD, AIR, Berhampur released the show on the presence of K.C. Nisanko, Ast. Director of Tourism and Culture (Retd), Manmohan Padhy, Field publicity officer GOI, Narayan Mahankuda, editor the Paryatan Bharat, Santosh Kumar Sahu, secretary, Jagannath Choudhury, Ritu Panda, Promod Panda, Laxman Choudhury, Dr. Susanta Patro, Sisir Panda and other members are present.
Most of the renowned personalities including Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, MLA Berhampur, Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Ex central minister, Subash Maharana, Chairman BDA, Kanhu Chara Pati, BJP district president and other joined the gathering on time to time. Administration and Police played their role to make the festive days disciplined one.
Last day of yatra is marked with Kumar Purnima and also Jahni Osha, the month long ritual of unmarried girls. This year there are 46 groups of Jahni Osha had to march their closing ceremony as reported by puja committee. To give a tremendous farewell to Maa Kalua the whole Gosainnuagam has arranged a good light decoration with 18 cultural troupes, 6 bhajan groups, 4 melody orchestra and an opera troupe have to show their performances for a good gathering of lakhs of devotees on this last day.
