Berhampur : Berhampur, members of Berhampur Children’s Federation today greet the newly appointed municipal commissioner Sri. Sushanta Kumar Mishra in his office.
Children detailed their activities since its beginning in 2012 and their role in keeping the city chid friendly. Apart from this children appeal the commissioner to make Berhampur a child friendly city. They also detailed their activities like child led planning, children report card, sanitation drive, sanitation monitoring through wall magazine and requested to include children’s views and opinion in city planning, development and governance.
The children’s federation members conveyed poor living condition in slums and their issues like lack of basic services in slums like water, sanitation, housing, public space (parks) and electricity, road and transport services. Children as the junior citizen demanded to provide equal opportunity to participate in all affairs of city development and make the city liveable for children with child friendly spaces. They also requested the cooperation of government officials and service provider’s to make the city child friendly.
The commissioner praised the activities of children and appealed children to keep up the good work. He also assured children to provide all kinds of possible support to children and also assured children can visit and contact any time to the commissioner.
Among the children’s federation members Smruti Kumari Sahu and Subhasree of Raghupati Nagar, Aakash Das of Gaudabandha Street, Ajay Das and Papun Das of Gramadevati Street are present and discuss with the new Commissioner. Chandan Kumar Sahu, Abhiram Kanhar, Susmita Behera, Bala Das and Pragati Nahak of Youth for Social Development facilitated to children.
