Kaniha: The 80th Prajamandal Diwas (the annual event for honouring freedom fighters) was celebrated on September 6, 2017.Every year the programme is organised by NTPC Kaniha in association with Swadinanata Sangrami Memorial Trust, Kaniha.
On this occasion, Dr Narishma Charan Sahu, Minister of Commerce & Transport ,Govt .of Odisha was the Chief Guest , ,Shri Braja Kishore Pradhan ,MLA ,Talcher ,Shri Mahesh Sahoo, MLA ,Pallhara ,Shri Ram Kuber ,Executive Director ,NTPC Kaniha was the Guests of Honour. Shri Somyaranjan Patnaik ,Editor ,Sambad was the Chief Speaker. Shri Bichidananda Pradhan, Eminent Freedom Fighter was the Special Guest of the programme.
Speakers on this occasion shared the importance of the day and spoke on Prajamandal Diwas and contribution of freedom fighter Pabitra Mohan Pradhan. On this day “Prajamandal” was formed in year 1936 which was a part of the Indian Independence movement, where the people fought against their feudal rulers and the British administration simultaneously for their rights. It is celebrated as a Remembrance Day of freedom fighters of Talcher who contributed for achieving freedom for the country in the long run.
The delegates later inaugurated souvenir “ame sangrami” and awarded the winners of various competitions organised to celebrate the day.47 freedom fighters were honoured on this occasion as a tribute for their contribution.
