61st Birthday of Sri Sri Ravishankar celebrated in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The 61st birthday of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a renowned spiritual Guru and the founder of International Art of Living Foundation, was celebrated with gaiety and fervor all over India and across the world in 156 countries where Art of Living has its presence today.
The Art of Living – Bhubaneswar chapter also organized several programmes in harmony with the organization’s ideology of Sadhna, Seva and Satsang, to commemorate this pious occasion. Ayuush Homa was performed in the presence of Swami Brahmachitt Ji. It is a very potent Vedic ritual, primarily meant for increasing the life span of a person by reducing health disorders. It plays a key role in improving life standards by minimizing health ailments to a wider extent. The main objective of Ayuush Homa is to get blessings from Ayur Devata, the God of life. By performing this homa, one is able to ensure a healthy and long living life.
Guru Puja an essential part of the celebration was also performed to pay obeisance to the learned masters of the Universe. A mesmerizing Satsang (Rendition of divine music) was the key attraction of the evening and was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. Besides, a meditation session was also conducted to enhance the inner bliss of all those present. The devotees had a memorably exhilarating experiencing soaking in the divine energy generated during the Satsang, and followed by the meditation. The evening ended with the distribution and partaking of “Prasaad” by all the devotees present.
Earlier during the day, internationally renowned sand artist, Padmashree Sudarshan Patnaik dedicated a sand sculpture at the Puri beach to mark the birthday celebration of Guruji. He said that it was his ardent desire since long to sculpt His Holiness Sri Sri Ravishankar, as he was touched by his philosophy and vision. Today, that wish has been fulfilled and the sand sculpture is there for everyone across the globe to see.
As Sri Sri celebrates his 61st birthday today, it is a time for many around the world to pause and reflect. Since 1981, Sri Sri has been working towards a vision of a stress-free, violence-free world. He has once said: “I have a crazy idea… a world without violence. This may appear to be hoping for Utopia but we need to dream and we will get there.”
What appears to be utopian is now a deep desire of thousands of volunteers around the world who have been touched by Sri Sri’s philosophy and vision. To paint a vision is one thing. To actually drive it with all your energies is another. This is what Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been doing for over 36 years.
His profound and timeless philosophy is aptly illustrated when he says that “Make your smile cheap and your anger very expensive.”
