5 Students Killed in Accident at Bhadrak; Odisha CM Announces Rs 2lakh Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswart: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the tragic accident on NH-16 in Bhadrak where five children lost their lives. He declared ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for next of the kin of deceased and free medical treatment for the injured.

It should be noted that at least five school students were killed and nine others sustained critical injuries after being mowed down by a speeding truck on NH 16 near Ranital here in Odisha on Thursday.

The injured students were admitted to district headquarters hospital in critical condition. All the victims have been identified as the students of the Ranital High School in the district.

As per the report a speeding truck ran over the students at Rahanja square on NH-16 while they were crossing the road on their way back to homes from school.
