44 th NTPC Raising Day celebrated at Talcher Kaniha

Kaniha: The foundation day of NTPC was celebrated as “NTPC Raising Day” at Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, Kaniha today. NTPC completed 43 years of journey on November 7,2018.

To celebrate the special day, “Power Walk” for employees was organised in which senior executives of the station, executives,members of the Ladies club Tanvi Sangam, CISF ,members of union & association participated. Chief Guest of the occasion Shri Santosh James ,Chief General Manger, Talcher Kaniha hoisted the NTPC flag at administrative building & PTS ground township on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Shri James briefed the performance and important achievements of NTPC & Talcher Kaniha station. He said “NTPC was founded in 1975 as on date it has an installed capacity of 52946 MW with its 50 power stations which includes Coal, Hydro,Wind and Solar power stations. NTPC’s journey over four decades (40 years) speaks volumes of the company’s performance with noble start of journey 200 MW at Singrauli(UP) to 50000 + MW Company .On the occasion we remember our leaders who have contributed a lot to NTPC, said James.

He said further this year ,NTPC, the largest power utility of the country has been ranked No.1 Independent Power Producer and Trader Globally in the Platts Global Company rankings 2018. In the current fiscal year 2018-19 ,NTPC has generated power which is 9.5% more generation than the previous year. NTPC’s plant load factor (PLF) is 15% more than national average. NTPC under Sobhagaya has been entrusted with electrification of villages in 15 districts of Odisha by December 2018.

On backward integration, NTPC has started coal mining from its Dulanga coal mine ,Jharsguda(Odisha) and Pakri Barwadih mine in Jharkhand which will cater coal demand for its power stations. The company is committed to generate renewable power of 10000 mw by 2022.

“Talcher Kaniha power station during this financial year till November 4,2018 has achieved a PLF of 78.63% with generation of 12342.26 Million Units ,said Shri James. To maintain high PLF , the station requires good quality of coal and units should run without outage. At the same time he shared challenges of the power station related to ash dyke management in order to make one of the best power stations of NTPC. He added that he station has been awarded with Kalinga Safety Award recently” said Shri James.

Shri James shared the CSR activities conducted by the power station, He added we are committed to improve the quality of life of periphery people. “NTPC Kaniha organises various CSR activities throughout the year e.g drinking water to villages through piped water scheme as well as in water tankers , solar street lights were installed etc which shows the commitment of the power station towards empowerment of the society”.

In his concluding remarks, he thanked all station’s union, association, cultural bodies, CISF , employees for their valuable contribution . On the occasion he wished all the participants a Happy and Prosperous Diwali.
