3rd National HR Conclave was inaugurated at Sri Sri University

Cuttack: Faculty of Commerce and Management organized the third edition of its annual national HR conclave on 07th February, 2019 at Sri Sri University. The event was a huge success with active participation from corporate professionals, researchers and students. The objective of the conclave was to offer platform for the industry and academia together to share knowledge on emerging HR practices, challenge and future prospects with the theme of ‘People, Prospects and Paradigms’. The event began with a welcome note by Prof. (Dr.) P. Srinivas Subbarao, Dean FCMS, Sri Sri University who spoke about emerging trends and applications in HR domain. This was followed by an enlightening address by Mr. R. K. Bhusan Lawande, Founder and MD, E4 Development and Coaching Ltd. who stressed the need of capacity building by developing five core values, character, commitment, conviction, care and concern.
Dr. Surendra Kumar Gakhar, Former Vice Chancellor, Ch. Bansi Lal University, Haryana emphasized on the key challenges for HR in Industry 4.0 and presented a thoughtful deliberation on HR trends from colonial to modern Indian perspective. Conference Book entitled “People, Prospects and Paradigms” edited by Dr. P. S. Subbarao, Dr. Namita Rath, Dr. Pooja K. Singh and Dr. Tanaya Nayak was released during the event. Mr. Raghunath Jally, AGM (HR) Airport Authority of India, Prof. S. Peppin, Dean Academics, Xavier School of Sustainability, Bhubaneswar and Mr. Prafulla Kumar Panda, VP (HR and IR) Orissa Stevedores Ltd. shared their valuable experience and opinions on possibilities and challenges for managing HR in present volatile and competitive business environment. Dr. Santanu Kumar Rath, Director (HR) Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd. in his address, stressed on the need of inculcating human values for developing human capital as a strategic business partner and shared views on risk mitigation and CSR.
HR conclave witnessed over 150 participants including corporate professionals and students from GVP, Vishakhapatnam, GIFT, Bhubaneswar, DRIEMS, Cuttack and other institutions participated and presented their papers on conference subthemes ‘Employee wellness and business productivity, Industry 4.0: Engaging millennials at workplace and Strategic competitiveness through HR analytics’. The participants took this opportunity to interact with the corporate professionals and get directions to carve their way to be the future leaders.
This was followed by ‘Best Paper Award’ paper presentation competition where eleven teams competed for the winning position. Post presentations, 02 teams were announced as winner and runner up teams respectively. Judges for the competition were Prof. S. Peppin, Mr. R.K. Bhusan Lawande, Mr. Ranjan Kumar Maharana, Former G.M. NTPC and Mr. Bhargava Mistry Senior Consultant, E4 Consultants Private Ltd.
In the valedictory session, Dr. B. R. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Health and Wellness, Sri Sri University shared his experience and prize and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Namita Rath, Assistant Professor, FCMS wherein the guests were thanked for their engaging presence at the conclave and the efforts put in by the student teams.
