Bargarh: BJD to form the Zilla Parishad in Bargarh after 9 Zilla Parishad Members from BJP joined BJD. On Friday, as many as nine Bargarh Zilla Parishad Members, including the Vice-President, have quit the BJP and joined the BJD in Bargarh. The Zilla Parishad consists of 34 seats, of which 25 seats were captured by the BJP in the last three-tier Panchayati Raj elections, and the BJP formed the Zilla Parishad.
Now, the BJP’s seats have been reduced to 16 while the number of the BJD seats has risen to 18. So, the BJD will form the Zilla Parishad.
Vice-President of Zilla Parishad Prashanta Majhi and eight ZP Members Sanjukta Majhi, Anjali Bhoi, Sujata Barik, Bilasini Meher, Bispakanti Bhoi, Sushama Bhue, Panchanan Mirdha, Parbati Bhoi and Umesh Chandra Behera of the BJP joined the BJD at the party’s Padampur office in the presence of BJD Bargarh district president Bijaya Ranjan Sing Bariha.
