263 units of blood collected in Tata Steel BSL Plant on World Blood Donor Day

Narendrapur: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day today, Tata Steel BSL organised a special Blood Donation Camp in association with Blood Bank, Dhenkanal district and Sambad Ama Odisha at its plant at Narendrapur in Dhenkanal. Despite the scorching heat of summer, employees and their family members voluntarily lined up to donate blood during the whole day. A total of 263 units of blood were collected through the programme to support the requirement of the blood bank.
Dr Niranjan Mishra, Chief District Medical Officer, Dhenkanal formally inaugurated the camp in the presence of Dr Sankalp Keshari Bhoi, Additional District Medical Officer, Dhenkanal, Mr Biranchi Narayan Pani, Vice Chairman, Dhenkanal District Red Cross and President of Dhenkanal District Blood Donor’s Association, Mr A K Saxena, Executive Director, Tata Steel BSL, Mr Manikanata Naik, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel BSL, Mr R K Sinha, Chief, Safety, Tata Steel BSL and Dr Prashant S Patra, DGM, Occupational Health Centre, Tata Steel BSL and others.
Commending the organisers for the initiative while addressing the gathering Dr Mishra also thanked the donors for making the camp a huge success. Mr Naik also expressing his gratitude to all the volunteers for the support said Tata Steel BSL will organise more such camps in future.
Employees, contract workers, their family members had participated enthusiastically in the camp and donated blood. The Occupational Health Centre (OHC) team of Tata Steel BSL coordinated the programme.
